MPP Wins Award of Distinction in the Industrial Motors/Control & Hydraulics Category for MIM Components

Noblesville, IN (June 20, 2023) – MPP, a Mill Point Capital portfolio company, was recognized with an Award of Distinction from the Metal Powder Industries Federation for its development of a Latch Assembly within the Industrial Motors / Control & Hydraulics Category for Metal Injection Molding (MIM) Components. The four-part (5-piece) assembly for Schilling Robotics is used in their Seanet Cable Product, an underwater robotics application.

MPIF’s Design Excellence Award competition recognizes extraordinary efforts made in Powder Metallurgy, Metal Injection Molding, and Additive Manufacturing to advance new technologies and improve the net shape, precision, product efficiency, and manufacturing cost associated with the design.

According to Schilling Robotics, “MIM technology enabled us to design a solution to retrofit thousands of fielded cables. Designing field retrofittable solutions often come with extensive and challenging constraints, and this instance was no exception.  MIM was the only economically sound technology that allowed for the required part complexity, strength, and corrosion resistance.”

Karl Hoffman, Director of Sales at MPP, expressed enthusiasm about receiving the Award of Distinction from MPIF. He stated, “This program showcased the tremendous benefits of the Metal Injection Molding technology in an application that traditionally does not employ this manufacturing method.” We are thrilled to be recognized.
